Description
Originally released in 1960 and 1962 on two unique formats withover-lapping tracklists, the seminal Music From MathematicsShowcase Project marked the phonographic introduction ofcomputer generated music for the first time in the public arena.Almost exclusively created at Bell Laboratories using an electronicto sound transducer and a state of the art IBM 7090 (complete witha gargantuan 32KB of disposable memory!) Music From Mathematicsfeatured multiple random-not-random sound assaults preconceived by a host oftechnicians-cum-musicians eager to challenge the way humans would make andcreate music at the turn of the New Millennium. Amongst a list ofpioneering composers, the two original limited releases pressed by Deccaand Bell Telephone Laboratories feature a majority cross sectionof recordings by two leading composers – project instigator Max Mathewsand Bell Laboratories’ stalwart vacuum tube scientist John RobinsonPierce.
