SEX PISTOL
THE ORIGINAL SPUNK
1ST PRESSING
VERY RARE Sex Pistols LP 12" SPUNK ( 'THE' Original BLA 169 - 1977 -release ) EX Includes 12 page Lyric Booklet with Artwork.
This is the initial pressing of "SPUNK". Due to rush release to beat NMTB in the shops in the U.K., this release came out just in a plain white sleeve. Matrix numbers as mentioned down below. To avoid endless discussions about this submission being double, triple or what else: This IS the first release as it hit the shops in early October 1977! All others have followed after this one in countless variations.
This is the infamous "Spunk" LP, released just before the NMTB LP, "initially released without a sleeve in a rush to beat 'Never Mind The Bollocks' to the shops."
Manufactured by: Lyntone Recordings Ltd
Published By: White Bitch
Produced By: P. Dickerson 1977 (Both A+B Sides)
The included 12 page 'Lyrics' booklet was distibuted by 'No Taste In Music'.
I would have taken photos of the lyrics pages, but this would detract from the booklets exclusivity. Each page has added artwork in the style of the front and back cover. A nice additional piece!
BE AWARE, This album has been released many times in several forms. DON'T BE FOOLED!! This is the INITIAL ISSUE with plain white sleeve (artwork stuck on manually later!) with the 'Gun' labels released in the UK!
HANDY HINT: ORIGINAL COPIES CAN BE IDENTIFIED BY THE MATRIX NUMBERS ENGRAVED IN THE RUNOUT!!!!
Matrix/Runout (A Side) : LYN 4372-111
Matrix/Runout (B Side) : LYN 4373-111
ON THE LABEL OF SIDE ONE BOTH 'SATELITE' AND 'FEELINGS' ARE LISTED AS TRACK 2!!
A1-5 are Demos recorded by Dave Goodman in July 1976.
A6 is the rejected Dave Goodman produced version of the band's debut single 'Anarchy In The UK', recorded in October 1976.
B1-6 are Demos recorded by Dave Goodman in January 1977.
MOST songs are Mistitled or Misspelt on both sleeve and labels:
