Rick Nelson was so much more than a teenage idol. He was a highly influential musician whose deft mergence of Country music with Rock and Pop incubated what was to become universally known as California Rock—a genre fulfilled by musical artists such as The Eagles, Warren Zevon, Credence Clearwater Revival, Mike Nesmith, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, among others.
