Description

Please see all my auctions this week. I’m selling six rare and hard-to-find 45’s, all on Capitol. I found these Capitol 45’s, along with about a dozen more, in a small collection of several dozen records. They all look practically like new except for one defect: someone took a black magic marker and crossed out the catalog numbers and publishing info on each record, on both sides. These are all original issues. If you enlarge the photos you can see through the marker on most of them.

These all came in one group, along with some others (but only the Capitol 45’s were marked like this), they are all from a similar time period, all swirl labels, all with the same company sleeves. So, considering how rare some of these records are, my best guess is that at some point these were given away by someone in the Capitol Records sales/distribution chain, and the crossed-out info is their attempt to make sure they wouldn’t later be re-sold – a do-it-yourself cut out. But, it’s just a guess-these records had likely been stored away for over 50 years and there’s no way to know where they originally came from.

The Capitol 45’s I’m auctioning this week include some great Northern Soul by The Daisies, The Thrills, Cindy Malone and very rare Northern Soul by Alexander Patten and Patrice Holloway and a great "Girls in the Garage" record by The Girls.

This record: Alexander Patten - A Lil Lovin' Sometimes b/w No More Dreams - Capitol Records 5677  -- Original issue with title all on one line!

****Please note - due to the strange magic marker on all these Capitol 45s (the crossed out catalog numbers and publishing info--please see above) I'll be listing the dead wax numbers for each one. All are original issues.

Etched in the deadwax:   45-55998-F-1   and   45-55997-F-1

Condition: Beautiful NM appearance all around except for the magic marker (please see above notes). Labels are bright, clean and shiny with no wear at all - but of course, ugly magic marker, so grade them as you will. The vinyl is outstanding - shiny, glossy and like new with just a couple microscopic marks - looks like a brand new record! Plays great, loud and strong with just a light noise or crackle on the lead in and early on.

No Reserve!
