Description
This is an auction for a rare LP, Verdi, Aida, Tebaldi, Karajan, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
This was released by Decca records and has catalogue number SXL2167/8/9. This is the 1st pressing with a groove running the circumference of the label, also known as WBg, wide band grooved. This is stereophonic. Please check the pictures for clarification.
Condition: The red plastic outer sleeve has some dirt marks, most of which will certainly clean of the plastic surface. The top and bottom mouth corenrs have a tiny split, running in from the mouth edge, perhaps 1cm. Lastly down the spine edge the outer plastic cover has come unstuck, it is not torn and can be stuck back showing leaving no damage or mark.
This comes with its three original ''Decca FFSS' inner sleeves which are in fine condition, no edge splits or discolouring.
This also comes with its original booklets which has a few very light scuff/dirt marks to the outer front page and a few small creases seen along the spine edge but is otherwise in fine condition, no discolouring, tears etc.
All labels look immaculate and new, Under closer examination upto three tiny spindle trails can be seen on each side, most sides have one or two, if any. The centre hole is just about perfect on all sides with the lightest touch possible of fraying just seen on a couple of labels, being ultra fussy, fact is they look new, please check the pictures, superb labels. Making this a little more interesting is the fact that label four has been mispressed, both the 'FFSS' silver bar and the listing text are both pressed off-centre. Please check the pictures on supersize, unsure if this makes these any more desirable but it is the 1st time I have seen this fault on the SXL series.
The vinyl retains its brand new shine and looks immaculate, Under closer examination, a strong light, one very, very faint ghost mark and a couple of tiny feather scratches can just be seen. One side has some very faint marks left by the plastic inner. Fact is these look brand new, most sides look completely mint. The mentioned marks and feather scratches are, of course, completely non-audible and, as stated, only seen under the closest of examinations. The audio, as expected, is simply superb. Playing with very little, if any, lessening in sound quality. No distortion, fading or dragging heard whatsoever. Certainly not suffering any reduction in sound quality due to wear and just about as good as you can find this. Graded at an ultra strict Near Mint. Most sides certainly look completely mint, with all sides looking new and having superb audio.
Fine plastic case, superb inners, superb booklet, superb labels, played two or three times only, fantastic audio, superb looking and a true collectors item. You will be hard pressed to find the vinyl and labels in any better condition.
