Description
From 1967, comes the first LP by The Velvet Underound entitled The Velvet Underground & Nico on Verve V5008 MONO. This LP is an ORIGINAL MONO gatefold cover with the peelable banana on the front cover UNTOUCHED and UNPEELED!! Usually these bananas are peeled off part way or all together! The LP also has the rare sticker on the rear cover covering the floating torso photograph. The sticker reads (it is black and rectangular): The Velvet Underground & Nico Produced By Andy Warhol. It also has the Verve symbol on it. It is on the rear cover above a photo of the group playing onstage and obscuring the floating torso picture. ALL MONOs of this LP have the floating torso rear cover! This is only the first MONO I have ever seen that has the sticker on the rear cover! In 27 plus years I have only seen Stereo copies with this sticker! Gatefold cover with photos of the group and a picture of Andy Warhol inside. A great first LP with Lou Reed, John Cale, Sterling Morrison,Maureen Tucker and Nico! Produced by Andy Warhol! What a classic LP it is! Contains the following songs: Sunday Morning, Waiting For The Man, Femme Fatale, Venus In Furs, Run Run Run, All Tomorrow's Parties, Heroin, There She Goes Again, I'll Be Your Mirror,The Black Angel's Death Song, European Son. It is hard to pick a favorite cut from this album as the 11 songs are all equally good! The LP was light years ahead of it's time and only now are some groups touching some of these levels! Remember, it is a MONO with an UNPEELED banana and a sticker on the rear cover!!WOW!!!
High spot dirt and wear on front and rear cover (see pic), top of peelable banana is on top seam and is slightly banged, top seam exhibits some wear. Cut out hole.
Cover is better than VG+ but not VG++, record is VG++!!
