Please read the entire ad for all terms and conditions regarding shipping, returns, vintage electronics, etc, and feel free to email me with any questions you may have. There are usually additional photos of the item at the end of the ad, so please take a look! : ) Attention buyers with ZERO feedback...hugely important! Please see the section below, regarding buyers with zero feedback, and bidding on my items. And now, without further ado...
You are looking at a set of 15 records, comprising Modern American Composers. This is a super rare set of V-discs, that was produced by the Music Branch, Special Services Division, of the War Department, for distribution to military personnel to boost troop morale in the 1940's. Cover is in very nice condition, with slight wear at the corners (see photos). As for the discs, they look to have not been played much, especially considering their age. There are some slight scuffs or a minor scratch here and there...nothing deep, and again, look not to have been played much. They all played fine on my Benjamin Miracord 40A turntable, but disc 14 is slightly warped and needed to be tracked at around 5 grams to play without skipping from the slight bump. There are ways to flatten out slight warps, but I will leave that to you. These discs I believe are not shellac, but perhaps vinylite or vinyl. Labels are special for this set, not the typical V-disc label, but they DO say "produced by the music branch special services division, war department, in conjunction with the v-disc program" and the disclaimer "This record is the property of the United States Government, and use for commercial purposes is prohibited." A couple of the labels has a little different coloring, which does not appear to be faded, but printed that way originally. See photos for labels and inner groove stampings. Some disc's inner grooves have catalog numbers that start with JBB, while the label says JDB. Label catalog numbers and track listings as follows:

I am not a record grader but will do my best to answer any questions you have, and provide additional photos at your request. I am limited to showing 24 photos with this listing, which you can see below. The pictures of the labels I did not include are available upon request. They are vibrant and look like the majority of the labels, I just couldn't include more than 24. This item is in as described condition, and is sold as-is.
A few words about buying vintage electronics...
I test all electronic equipment before listing and again before shipping, and usually include a video in the ad, of the item working. On occasion, there may be a minor feature that may have not been tested. If I say an item is in perfect working condition, I am referring to the features I have tested, and have represented in the ad and in the video, if applicable. If there is a specific feature that I haven't covered, that you are looking to ensure is in perfect working order, please message me PRIOR to bidding. Vintage electronics can have issues at any time, and there are no guarantees, either expressed or implied, when purchasing vintage electronics, except that they will not be DOA.
A few words about shipping...
I MAY, at my discretion, choose to ship this item to you via Fed Ex instead of USPS, which will result in NO additional cost to you, but will get it to you quicker : ) As a result, I can not ship this via Fed-Ex to P.O. Boxes, and that is the shipping charge that has been quoted. Therefore, if you have a P.O. Box as your shipping address, you can still bid but shipping will need to be calculated, so please contact me with your zipcode first, so I can tell you the actual cost to get it to you. Again, I reserve the right to use either Fed Ex or USPS to ship your item, always taking in to account the quickest and most efficient way to get your purchase to you safely. Local pickup is also available in the Santa Clarita, CA area (Los Angeles area).
*Shipping discounts available with the purchase of multiple items.*
100% feedback and high DSR's (Detailed Seller Ratings) means you can bid with confidence!
Please check out my other auctions, and check back frequently in the next few weeks as I have a ton of electronic equipment, as well as rare and hard to find vintage items to list!
A few words to international buyers... International bidders, be aware that depending on the size and weight of the item, international shipping may add substantial cost to your final price. If you are unsure about what to expect regarding total cost, email me first BEFORE bidding so that I may confirm it for you. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY APPLICABLE DUTIES, IMPORT, OR VALUE ADDED (VAT) TAXES. Customs declared value will be what you paid for the item, not including shipping. I have no way of knowing what those fees may be if any, so they are not included in your costs of this transaction. Please see seller’s payment instructions for additional information BEFORE bidding or completing your transaction. ATTENTION BUYERS WITH ZERO FEEDBACK...
We have all been there at some point, being new to ebay and all...it's exciting to bid on items! But when you do, you are creating a contract between yourself and the seller, and it's really lame not to follow through on your purchase when you win. Because I have had a few buyers like this, I must institute a policy that buyers with zero feedback must contact me BEFORE bidding on any of my items. If you are a buyer with ZERO feedback, and you bid on my items without contacting me first, your bid will be cancelled. Yes, I know, there are some righteous buyers with zero feedback, and you may be one of them...but because of the ones that aren't, you must go through this extra step if you want to purchase an item from me. This policy applies to ZERO feedback buyers only...everyone else, feel free to bid away! : )
A few words about my return policy…
I don't accept returns, and my items are sold as-is, with no warranties expressed or implied. Here's why...I've sold in excess of 1500 items on ebay. I've had only a few returns. The very few returns I've had were not packed by the buyers, with the care that I take, to ensure that items arrive safely. That being said, I have been a seller for 15 years on ebay, and I have 100% feedback and high DSR's for a reason. I stand behind every transaction. If you EVER have a problem with a purchase from me, you can rest assured that I will work it out with you, to your satisfaction. I just ask that you please contact me and allow me the opportunity to address any issues BEFORE opening a case with ebay, or leaving negative feedback. Thanks : )
A few words about payment and feedback… Payment is expected within 3 days of the end of the auction. If for some reason you need more time for payment, just let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you. As long as you communicate with me, we're cool. Feedback will be left when received. Feedback should reflect item description, shipping time, communication and shipping costs, and these aspects are broken down individually by Ebay, with star ratings. Please keep in mind when you rate your sellers, that shipping is more than just the post office mailing rate. It includes the padded envelopes, tape, printing, bubblewrap, styrofoam peanuts, etc…all the things necessary to ensure that your item arrives safely to you. These things may add a few cents to your shipping costs, but really, would you rather have it any other way?
