Just Another Diamond Day.
Ultra rare Clean EX Vinyl LP 1970 UK. Hard to find on the original Phillips label. Iconic album produced by Joe Boyd and with players including Incredible string band members, Robin Williamson (fiddle, mandolin, Irish harp), Christopher Sykes (piano, organ). Dave Swarbrick, Simon Nicol (Fairport Convention), John James (dulcichord). A true maverick performer, she set out from London to the Outer Hebrides in Scotland with a horse, a dog called blue and an old wagon. These songs were a document of a year and a half pilgrimage. Upon her return, Producer Joe Boyd said "I have never known anyone whose music is so completely a reflection of their life and spirit". Its by far the most rare album on the Phillips label and was outsold at the time by other rare releases on the same label as-CZAR and OPEN MIND.
Its a really lovely thing and the first I have ever seen in the flesh. Its clean gatefold sleeve is Very Good++ to excellent with just some light edge rub (most would grade excellent). The square spine with some rub and small corner bumps. Generally it looks great with clear bright colours. The sleeve was photographed and painted by Christopher Sykes and John James. Still with the original made in England poly lined patent pending inner sleeve.
The vinyl is clean and looks bright with original shine. A very light surface mark (1cm) across track one side two doesn't affect play at all, however there is one loud tick on track one. Otherwise it sounds lovely with clear strong audio. Practically a flawless play. Vocal recording of the unique soft voice is fantastic by Joe Boyd. Run off dead wax displays some crossed out digits and stampers. I can clearly see- 630819. 1Y/2Y matrix with other stampers as 11 and 2 at 4 o clock side one. 2y // 1 and 111 at five past twelve side two. I am sure that this denotes first pressing. Labels with some spindle marks but look great with no rub or tears to surface (see pics).
Heres your chance to own a classic and maybe the rarest of all psych prog folk LPs ever recorded. Hard to find better.

Sleeve--Some light edge rub to spine and top, bottom due to shelf wear, but generally clean. Very good++ / excellent. No major damage at all and looks great.
Labels--Clean but with some spindle marks.
Vinyl-- Excellent (light surface mark to track one side 2) some light crackle in places (its a very quiet album) but sounds great. Bright original shine to vinyl.

Additional info--
This record was (in theory) a promo. I purchased it from A journalist called Tony Lidgate. He worked for the West Hartlepool evening mail from 1968 to the early 70s. I purchased other titles from him that were all either mailed personally at the time from Joe Boyd or John Peel. Joe Boyd was the producer on the Vashti and Tony told me that Joe called him up for a feedback report for the record. Tony also told me that he didn't like the record at all, so I suppose that's the reason that it plays so well today. He didn't play it very much at all. There are no stickers or signs that it was a promo, but I know the history of this LP and that it was used for this purchase.
