GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie il controllo viene effettuato sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i dischi in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati, i 33 giri su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1 mentre gli EP e i singoli a 45 giri con un Thorens TD 166 BC fornito di una testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All records in auction have been fully heard. Lps on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge, EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : per questo film: una commedia ironica sul rapporto tra genitori e figli nell'epoca hippie, il regista Milos Forman scelse principalmente ballate folk cantate da interpreti femminili. Inizia Nina Hart con "Love" con una tonalità vocale che esprime pure  caratteri di musica soul su un tessuto sonoro percussivo. Bobo Bates, cioè Kathy Bates, canta la bella ballata "And Even The Horses Had Wings" (a4) così come Carly Simon in "Long Term Physical Effects" (a5). Ed ancora "Ode to a Screw" (a6) nell'interpretazione di Mary Mitchell, "Lessons in Love" (b1), simpatica ballata dalla timbrica aggressiva cantata da Catherine Heriza e per terminare la carrellata "He's Got The Whole World In His Hand" (b5) dal ritmo vivace con Jinx Rubin al canto.  Dal doppio album Wee Tam and the Big Huge (1968): "Air" (b4) interpretata da The Incredible String Band. Brano dolcissimo simile ad una ninna nanna cullata da organo, flauto e chitarra. Ike & Tina Turner ci fanno scattare per essere pronti a ballare sull'esplosiva miscela di rhythm & blues impastata con una travolgente vocalità e una chitarra vibrante in "Goodbye, So Long" del 1964 (b3). Infine, ci sono due brani strumentali da musica classica. Il primo (a7) fu composto da Anton Dvorak e viene eseguito dall'Orchestra Filarmonica di Praga, il secondo "Nocturne" (b1) di Tschaikowsky è suonato da Susan Cohen al violino.

I titoli dei tredici brani possono esser letti guardando i due lati dell'etichetta raffigurati nelle scansioni n° 3 e 4.

Notes : for this film: an ironic comedy about the relationship between parents and children in the hippie era, the director Milos Forman mostly chose folk ballads sung by female performers. Nina Hart begins with "Love" with vocal tones that also express some soul music features on a percussive sound texture. Bobo Bates, namely Kathy Bates, sings the beautiful ballad "And Even The Horses Had Wings" (a4) as well as Carly Simon in "Long Term Physical Effects" (a5). Still more "Ode to a Screw" (a6) performed by Mary Mitchell, "Lessons in Love" (b1) a nice ballad sung by Catherine Heriza with an aggressive tone and to finish the parade "He's Got The Whole World In His Hand" (b5) from the lively beat and sung by Jinx Rubin. From the double album Wee Tam and the Big Huge (1968): "Air" (b4) performed by The Incredible String Band. It's a sweet song like a lullaby cradled by keyboards, flute and guitar. Ike & Tina Turner make us get up for being ready to dance on explosive mixture of rhythm & blues characterized by an overwhelming vocality and a vibrant guitar in "Goodbye, So Long" of 1964 (b3). Finally, there are two instrumental pieces from classical music. The first (a7) was composed by Anton Dvorak and is performed by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Prague, the second, Tchaikovsky's "Nocturne", (b1) is played by Susan Cohen on violin. 

The titles of thirteen tracks can be read looking at both sides of the label depicted in the scans No. 3 and 4.

Commedia satirica, pungente e con molta buona musica che illustra le problematiche della media borghesia USA allo scadere degli anni sessanta. Produzione Americana, regia di Milos Forman. Con Lynn Carlin, Buck Henry, Georgia Engel, Linnea Heacock e Audra Lindley.
