One look at the track list for this compilation is enough to make you wonder what on Earth the compilers were going for. It's not that the tracks here aren't all excellent, more that there's no clear thread running through them other than the fact they were all made between the 1960s and 1980s, and each represent the apex of what was pop at the time they were made.
In many ways it's a nostalgist's dream come true then, with the cover itself nodding to some of the great TV shows of our time that have taken a big lead - aesthetically and musically - from the great decades this collection covers (Netflix's Sex Education and Stranger Things both immediately spring to mind). From the glittering synthdom of Never Ending Story to the sing-along stadium anthem of Love Really Hurts Without You and the proto chart rap of Push It, it's both random and hugely, hugely enjoyable.
