Description
Offered today is a very good plus (VG+) set of two 'shellac' 1950's 78 RPM 10" records, quite scarce since they were only available in the greater Cleveland area for probably a year at most. "Uncle Jake's House" was, by some accounts, the first children's TV show in Northeast Ohio. It went off the air in the mid-1950s, which puts it out of reach of the memories of a lot of our customers. (Though you may remember Gene Carroll, who played Uncle Jake and continued on the air a long time with his talent show.)
The four episodes on these rare recordings are as follows: 'The Counting Song', 'The Dreamland Song', & 'The Magic Hat' (Part 1 & Part 2 on the flip side). The only side that has some 'issues' is Side 1 of 'Magic Hat' - the other three sides play really well, look really nice, & will certainly bring back some nostalgic memories for viewers of that 'golden era' of B&W TV! The 'Side 1' in question has about a quarter inch of worn grooves, which play poorly. All labels on all sides are in remarkably clean & bright condition, as well as the surfaces & grooves of the records (except for the one with issues). They rate a solid Very Good Plus grade (VG+) according to Goldmine grading standards.
This is the only set of these scarce recordings I've ever seen in 40 years - & will probably be the last! Better bid on these if you need them for your collection!
