Description
Blimey it's true! I've found several obscure but highly-appreciated albums in my bedroom cupboard, and have decided to sell them to whoever will play them and enjoy them, and put the proceeds towards a new mandolin! I saw Christie performing most of these tracks live at the Peelers Club in London in 1973, and aquired the album a year or two later. I've never forgotten his performance...a true original, and very endearing. Now,of course, the poor fellow has passed away, after a wonderful revival of his fortunes in the nineties. I read somewhere that only 500 of these records were pressed, so this truly is a rare record! Not only that, but it's a wonderful one in terms of the charm of his performances. Included is "Don't get yourself a shovel" , which was made famous by Christie Moore. I much prefer the original myself! I'm always honest on my ebay listings, so i have to say that there is a bit of background noise throughout ( probably due to the pressing process of small runs )but this adds to the charm in my opinion. Happy Bidding! I hope this goes to a real fan who has never heard the early stuff! You are in for a treat!! Tracks: Stagolee. High in the Trees. Young Sailor.Far away in Australia. Don't get yourself a shovel. Toomey's Yarn.\When I go to bed at night. Sing a rag. The All-Ireland. Mr. Sunshine's on my side. The Galway Shawl. Messenger Boy. When I'm walking out with my girl. Will Murphy and Patsy McCann.
