Description

Federal Perma Disc Recording US Army Sergeant Soldier Dukes 1942 WW ll 78 RPM. Plays inside to outside.
I listened several times and took notes. This is a partial list of what is on the record. It plays very fast. Someone is interviewing my UNCLE from Sheffield, Alabama.

"Headquarters Bay Section, Troops.  Corps of Engineers. US Army radio broadcast somewhere in France.  Office of Chief Engineer, Sgt. Lewis M.  Dukes,  Atlanta Avenue,  Sheffield AL".
"Waterway....France and Belgium."
"Machine shop where almost anything can be fixed. Good job outlining engineering duties, Bay section engineers.  Welding is a separate engineering operation. Minor repair jobs, supplying electricity, installing flood lights for night unloading, dig roads, inlay waterway systems, jack of all trades.  We could go on and on."
"Signing off Channel Bay Section, U S Army headquarters, somewhere in France!"
There is more on the record but you have to listen carefully on both sides. What I have included is the bulk of it.
This is my uncle talking to the interviewer, Lewis M. Dukes, Sheffield, Alabama, born 1916.  It was mailed to his parents, my grandparents.
There is some static but I was able to hear the talking very well.  It is good condition for age
