Among the better known private pressings of obscure Ameican bands. This vinly plate of metal goodness entered the world in late 1984. In the past a few copies were spoted (in Germany of all place) lately Upper Echelon has become increasingly rare. The bland cover may scare the prospective customer who is used to dungeons and dragons and full breasted damsels in distress. But under it all is some raw Priest-ish type material. other than the song "Teaser" think of old, old Judas Priest (some say classic) and their wonderful Rocka Rolla/Sad Wings Of Destiuny era.

"Drivin 'Mean' is a fast uptempo opener, which is fine for fast driving and trying to achieve the state of Hel Bent For Leather.

"Evil (Songs)" and "Winter" are both long, epic and atmospheric songs that remind one a bit of Black Sabbath. But only in places. In any case, the two songs are really moody, and one could imagine being frozen in the icy grip of Winter. Great singing and great bass work. add to the very cmpetent guitar and drum work.?

• For those who prefer their Metal a whole lot heavier, we're proud to present Seattle's Upper Echelon. This is their sole release, "Surface Tension", which had a stingy run of only 1000 copies. So then, not much scope for stumbling across an original copy in a 2nd hand store. If Manilla Road, Cloven Hoof or Cirith Ungol float your boat, reach for the Upper Echelon.
  

• What can we say about this EP that hasn't already been said? If you like obscure Manilla Road and unique CirithUngol tunes, then you're inexcusable if you don't own this majestic piece of steel! Features 4 songs of which the first 2 on Side A are simply MASTERPIECES! Especially, the song "Evil (Songs)" is by far one of the best tunes ever recorded by an American band. A true metal opus.

• Traditional awesome Heavy Metal! This type of metal always puts a smile on my face, great stuff.

• Rare US EP that is well worth hearing. True Metal from the Golden Age.
