I WILL SHARE ON THE LISTING ANY INFO THAT COMES TO LIGHT

INFORMATION RECEIVED FROM AN EBAY MEMBER - Howdy! Maybe someone else has brought up this info to you, but on a CD released here in the States in 1993 (when I got my copy), by Lowell George and the factory (lower case "t" and "f"), entitled "lightning-rod man" (all lower case lettering) included among the 15 songs, "sleep tight" (2:25), and credited to (Lowell George & Martin Kibbee). I am going to assume this is the exact same song that is on your acetate, and the only version that has ever existed in recorded form (barring a "live" recording at some long-ago, forgotten performance, perhaps). "sleep tight" dates from "summer, 1967", "for Marshall Lieb at T.T.G.", also, on the CD credit, it reads "Remix at Annex". Now, here I have to add that indeed, Mr George did co-compose a tune (at least one, that I'm aware of) with Mr Russ Titelman, and the song is entitled "Sitting on a Plane", recorded and released commercially as a '45 single on the Roulette Label by the group "The Young Savages", and I imagine it was recorded and issued around the same time as "the factory" sessions. I have no more info on that song, as to who may have been heard playing on the track. I've enjoyed listening to it many many times, since the 1990's, as well as the factory's CD. I think the acetate you have offered here is a really important find

INFORMATION RECEIVED FROM AN EBAY MEMBER - Thank you for sharing my previous info, which, to the best of my knowledge, is accurate. I realize I did not mention the sheet music with lyrics that are pictured above with the acetate. I can just read the credits for the song, the chords to play while you follow the melody, etc. Of course I have never seen this page of sheet music before, and I cannot confirm or deny its authenticity. In the upper right-hand corner, very faintly, someone has written that this song was composed by Russ Titelman & Lowell George. One can believe this or not, as there is a more widely known version, included with "the factory" CD, released in 1993, and crediting Lowell George & Martin Kibbee as the co-writers. Perhaps someone might try to contact Mr Russ Titelman, and ask him to tell his side of this apparent credit mix up. It really needs to be properly set straight. I'd be really curious to find what the story is, because the 1993 release of "the factory" CD included a fairly detailed insert with each song highlighted as to who wrote & produced each song, where recorded, and most times, the date it was committed to tape.

OUR REPLY - I have had this acetate and a bunch of others (although no more Lowell George!!) For about 15 years. Some have the sheet music etc but most have no details other than the song & publishers on the label It looks as though the writing on all the sheet music is the same so I guess the writing credits could have been mixed up However I am pretty sure they were written at the time of the acetate eg 67/68.I will post your last message on to the sales page if that is OK with you so that anybody interested gets as much info as I can give them
