UNISSUED HMV TEST: NOEL COWARD SINGS “MAD ABOUT THE BOY” Matrix number OB-4211-1, recorded in London 20 September 1932; piano accompanist unidentified; most likely Ray Noble. Not only was this record REJECTED by HMV, but Coward, later in his life, denied making it saying that it wasn’t in his vocal range. Shortly after I found this at a San Francisco estate auction I called Brian Rust to tell him about it; his reaction was, “OH MY GOD!”
Single faced 78 RPM record; light superficial scuffs with a small 1/4" scratch (probably a needle run). E-
