THESE ARE THE ORIGINAL TEST PRESSINGS FROM AKARMA / TAPESTRY. AS A LONG STANDING CUSTOMER I HAVE BEEN OFFERED THESE. THERE ARE ONLY ONE OR TWO OF EACH, SO GET THEM WHILST YOU CAN. THEY ARE 180GM PRESSINGS WITH WHITE LABELS IN POLY SLEEVE WITH THE TEST PRESSING STICKER ON THE SLEEVE, NOT THE RECORD COVER

It's hard to say which psych scene was more 'happening' back in the late 60's; San Francisco or Boston. I guess San Fran would have to take top honors as being not only earlier, but for sheer volume of bands. But if quality is the main concern, I might give the nod to Boston. The Ultimate Spinach are just one reason why. Their albums were the very first underground rock albums I ever purchased. I saw all 3 together in the record store bin one day, looking very lonely and sadly overlooked no less, and I thought to myself, "I've never heard of 'em, but a band with a name like Ultimate Spinach just has to be cool", and I bought all 3 albums. They have never left my possession since. Their debut is male/female vocal psych, with fuzz guitar, and Voxx organ, and simply amazing period flavor. If I had to recommend any 1 album to someone wanting to know what a good representative of the genre is, it would be either one of the first two Ultimate Spinach LP's..
