UHQR: ALAN PARSONS PROJECT: I ROBOT
Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs finest pressing limited edition #1756 of 5000. Pressed in April 1983. I Robot is an outstanding concept album put out by one of the finest engineer/producers in the industry. Alan Parsons cut his teeth at Abbey Road Studios, working on the Beatles' Let It Be and Abbey Road albums, went on to engineer multiple albums for Paul McCartney, the Hollies and George Harrison, but the masterpeice of engineering that he is most famous for prior to his own recording carreer is Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. Along with songwriter/manager Eric Woolfson, Alan decided to begin creating his own thematic records and founded the Alan Parsons Project. Although he occasionally played keyboards, guitar and sang background parts on his records, the Project was designed primarily as a forum for a revolving collection of vocalists and session players - among them Arthur Brown, ex-Zombie Colin Blunstone, Cockney Rebel's Steve Harley, the Hollies' Allan Clarke and guitarist Ian Bairnson -- to interpret and perform Parsons and Woolfson's conceptually-linked, lushly arranged and orchestrated music.
This album is flawless, box is in great shape except for some near invisible wear at the top on the back, normal for an album of this age being shelved next to other albums and the box has a scrape along the bottom on the back. It was played once on an Oracle Alexandria and once on a B&O with a sapphire stylus. Non-smoking home in humidity controlled setting. Only one owner, and that owner is a freak about how stereo and vinyl are handled.
