Description
Three was produced as a 12-inch and subsequently a 7-inch, with an initial run of 1,000 individually numbered copies. It has been reissued six times, but it remains a rarity and was first released on CD in 2008 as part of the bonus disc with the that year's reissue of Boy. The track order was determined by a listener poll on Dave Fanning's radio show. Callers chose "Out of Control" to be the A-side of the record, with "Boy/Girl" and "Stories for Boys" as runners-up, constituting the B-side of the record (Wikepaedia, 2016)
U2 - Three is considered by many to be the holy grail of U2 vinyl collecting. I purchased this copy from an ex employee of CBS Records London several years ago. That individual obtained it in about 1980 and was its original owner.
This copy is hand numbered in Blue ink by Jackie Hayden and is # 485/1000. The details on the run out groove are correct as are the vinyl label details as per the provided pictures. I am not a professional vinyl grader but knowing that the previous owner only played the vinyl once to make a digital copy and having inspected but not played the vinyl myself, i would consider the vinyl to be at least mint. The sleeve is in very good condition with minor ring wear having been stored with other records. The sleeve has no tears or holes as per the pictures. The hand numbered sticker has had the bottom left hand corner neatly torn off. My guess is that at some point that corner has possibly started to come away from the sleeve and the previous owner has decided to cleanly remove the corner of the sticker before it came away further.
The vinyl and sleeve will be separated for packing so that there is nil risk of the vinyl punching through the spine of the sleeve during transit. Item will be professionally mailed via courier from Australia. Postage costs to be borne by the purchaser and detailed at end of auction. Postage insurance is highly recommended.
Happy bidding and thank you for checking out my vinyl!
