Description

It's always a problem grading these lovely old REGGAE/SKA records.

They went to lots of parties.

That means that they're a bit battered and that's why many have names written on the label.

HOWEVER... they're usually cut VERY LOUD and though they look a bit rough, they sound OK (especially if you press the "Mono" button).

This means that a 60's Ska goodie can be perfectly acceptable, even if it looks R.A.A.B.B. (Rough As A Bear's Bottom)..

Please bear that in mind when reading my descriptions.

Here we have Richard Ace and Black And George on a lovely 1969 TROJAN number 45rpm TR 654 “Hang ‘em High” and “Candy Lady”.

Both sides are Harry J productions.

Richard Ace is offering “Hang ‘em High” which is a swirling spaghetti western instrumental. It features lots of twangy guitar and a trumpet player who sounds as though he’s in the next room. It is great fun.

On the other side, Black And George (Hugh Black & George Ferris)

are performing “Candy Lady”

It features the “Wet Dream” two-chord-trick chord sequence and is utterly splendid.

It is a concrete firecracker of a track.

There are a couple of clicks here and there (mostly disappearing when the MONO button is pressed). Both sides are adorned with a few very light storage marks and a light scratch or two, which do not give grief to the ear’ole and don’t matter a feather or a fig.

Using the Record Collector Magazine standard grading, I reckon it’s somewhere like a solid VG+ but it plays MUCH BETTER.

“Candy Lady” is the cleaner side of the two.

I am not a dealer.

I am just a very old bloke thinning out his lifetime collection of STUFF before the floor collapses (or I do).

I'm selling most of this stuff for much less

than I paid for it.

What a great business plan (I don't think)!

I am certainly NOT INTERESTED IN PROFIT..

..and indeed, seldom make any!

What little profit I do make goes to help

a very splendid Wildlife Rescue Charity.

The item in the photographs is the item you will get.

I have described everything to the best of my ability, and everything plays very well indeed. Fill your boots.

Please check the photographs to decide for yourself.

NO OVERSEAS bidders please.

And NO OVERSEAS bidders using UK addresses please.

I am a simple sort, and I want my buyers to be happy. If there is any kind of problem, I like to sort it out personally. I can’t do this if you’re thousands of miles away!
