Jimmy Joe Ruggiere met up with young singer/songwriter Travis Tritt in the spring of 1987.  Travis was playing solo gigs around Atlanta, Georgia, and by summertime, Jimmy Joe had become a regular part of the act and his harmonica an integral part of the Tritt “sound”.   His first recordings with Travis were on the independently produced album, “Proud of the Country”.

That album led to the major label record deal with Warner Bros. Records.  Within a year the band that would be known as Country Club had taken shape and began to play clubs in the southeastern U.S.   In 1989, the first Warner Bros. album and first single were released and the band began to tour nationally.   The very first road trip west was to Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth, and it was there that Jimmy Joe began what would become his trademark, wearing one red and one black boot.

Jimmy Joe continued to record and tour with Travis throughout the nineties.  Travis and Country Club were regulars on the Grand Ol’ Opry and the Nashville Network.  In addition to playing sold out arenas, touring Europe, appearing in Tritt videos and the occasional movie, Jimmy Joe appeared numerous times on network TV, most notably multiple appearances on The Tonight Show with both Carson and Leno, and Late Night with David Letterman.
