Tommy McCook and the Gladiators Band – ‘Bongo I’ / Gladiators Band ‘Bongo I Part Two’ – Coxsone (JA)
Tommy McCook blowing on an instrumental version of The Gladiators’ ‘Bongo Red’. (Thanks eBay member ‘foryourlove2008’ for correcting me! I first thought it was a variation on Burning Spear’s ‘Swell Headed’, which it resembles.) Magnificent music in any case, and not an easy one to find these days. The dub side, pure drum and bass with the occasional spotlight on some particularly lethal rhythm guitar, is worth the price of admission alone.Condition: VG+ give or take a notch. Some pressing irregularities, typical Studio 1 style, and some surface noise but nothing too disturbing (please check the clips). Labels show some writing and the stamp from a Montego Bay record shop (please see scans).

Obviously, the second highest bid will have been raised, as it were, artificially by the ‘fake bidder’. I will try to lower the selling price to one increment above the third highest bid by way of offering a discount or free shipping (or both).
