This auction features a rare vinyl copy of 'The Ultimate Tommy Bolin'. This 3 LP box set was released by Geffen Records in 1989 and went out of print in the early 90's.
The Ultimate Tommy Bolin is a retrospective of Bolin's work featuring the bands of which he was a member, along with various session and solo work. This collection features recordings from Zephyr, the James Gang, Moxy, Billy Cobham, Deep Purple and solo Tommy Bolin.
Included with this box set is a full color 24 page booklet featuring liner notes, photographs and biographic information, including memories from members of Tommy's family.
This copy was sold as a 'cut-out' back in the early 90's which means that there is a small cut on the bottom of the box, which also left a small cut on the bottom of the booklet. (Record companies used this tactic to make sure that record retailers were not able to return unsold copies for full credit). The small cut in the bottom of the package in no way diminishes the quality of this set. The condition of the vinyl is Near Mint. In addition to the small cut in the bottom of the box, there is some cover wear: a few creases on the edges as well as one small tear in the spine. Overall, the condition of the cover is still very good. Other than the cut mentioned above, the booklet is in excellent condition.
