designed and illustrated by the man himself

 

Asylum Records 60211-1

 

Before the LP found a final release on Island Records, Asylum (his original label), pressed up a few copies on their label and Tom painted the front sleeve.

 

Patrick Humphries in his recent biography on Waits has the following to say about this LP

'A real rarity among the Waits' catalogue is the Asylum pressing of Swordfishtrombones.  Asylum did initially press up a number of copies of the album, the most stiking feature of which is the cover, an abstract painting by Waits himself.'

 

The Outer Sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition showing just a little ringwear, a corner crease (top left) and small split (top centre) but nothing though that detracts from the very good looks of this VERY RARE LP

The Inner Lyric/Picture Bag is in lovely MINT- condition

The Vinyl is in pristine MINT condition

The Labels are in very-near pristine MINT- condition showing barely a mark

 

You will be hard presssed to find a better copy of this LP
