Description
This is an extremely rare LP of Tom Paxton recorded live at the Gaslight Cafe in Greenwich Village, NYC, on a series of Autumn afternoons in 1962. The Gaslight Cafe is gone now from MacDougal Street, but Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, and Gregory Corso began reading poetry there during that winter. Many notable folk singers sang there in the 60's including Bob Dylan, Dave Van Ronk, Ritchie Havens, Phil Ochs, and "Ramblin" Jack Elliot. I bought this LP at the Gaslight Cafe on one of the nights my wife and I went there to see Tom perform. This package is in excellent condition. There is no wear on the the album jacket on the front or back. The sleeve is original and in excellent condition. There are no scratches or other signs of wear on the vinyl. It was cleaned and treated with a preservative many years ago and has not been played since. I took the LP to Tom when he was playing The Birchmere in Alexandria, VA, on 11/22/97, the date he autographed it. He was flabbergasted to see it, and was really excited to see himself photographed with hair. He exclaimed at the time that this was a very special recording, so rare that even he did not own a copy.
