Description
The third Todd Rundgren solo album is the sprawling double LP Something / Anything, issued in 1972 (Bearsville Records no. K65501). It was this record which first seriously established Rundgren’s reputation as a versatile songwriter, musician and studio wizard. The first 3 sides are entirely solo, with all instruments and vocals by Todd, while the 4th side has a range of other studio musicians accompanying him.
The album contains the minor hits I saw the light and Hello it’s me, but also includes many other very melodic pop songs in a wide range of styles (from, for example, the Beach Boys to Hendrix), many of which became firm concert favourites. There are also a number of wacky, experimental songs which epitomise one aspect of Rundgren’s idiosyncratic musical personality.
The discs and gatefold cover are in immaculate condition, with no marks, scratches, creases or other signs of wear whatsoever. The album contains a fold-out lyric sheet, with a collage of monochrome photos on the other side, which is likewise in excellent condition.
This album has been played only a few times (before being taped for listening in car) and has been carefully stored unused for 30 years.
