Description

Incredibly rare, milestone piece of power-pop history: an original 1972 White Label Promotional Pressing of Something/Anything?, the legendary third studio double-album by Todd Rundgren. Celebrated as a DIY masterpiece, Rundgren famously played every instrument, sang every vocal part, and produced three out of the four sides of this collection entirely by himself. The tracklist is an absolute tour de force, anchored by his definitive career-making classics "I Saw the Light," "Hello It's Me," and "It Wouldn't Have Made Any Difference."
The Ultimate Collector's Variant:
This highly unique industrial promotional set features a fascinating manufacturing variation that drives vinyl collectors wild: Record 1 is pressed on stunning translucent red vinyl (which glows a brilliant deep crimson when held up to a direct light source), while Record 2 is pressed on standard solid black vinyl. This indicates a very early, specialized pressing using premium high-fidelity vinyl compounds typically reserved for pristine initial radio station audio tracking.
Instead of the standard commercial orange labels, this copy features the authentic Plain White labels. Distributed exclusively to major FM radio stations, programmers, and rock critics in early 1972, it features the earliest -G master lacquer sequences cleanly etched across all four sides.
Crucially, this copy includes the elusive Original Custom Photo and Lyric Sheet Insert—a multi-page, oversized document containing Todd's technical liner notes and studio photos that is almost universally missing from surviving 1970s copies.

Condition Grading & Specifics
Vinyl Condition (Both LPs): Near Mint. Both records retain an intense original factory gloss. Disc 1 shows its gorgeous translucent red properties perfectly under a bright light bulb. The white labels are exceptionally clean with no center-spindle trails, no ink writing, and zero aging fade.
Jacket Condition: Very Good+. Original heavy-stock cardboard gatefold sleeve. The front artwork and interior collage remain vivid and colorful. Structurally solid with minor corner shelf-wear, an entirely legible spine, and tight, solid seams with no splits.
Insert Condition: Very Good+. The original multi-page Photo/Lyric Sheet Insert is fully included.
