TITLE: Brilliant Corners
CONDITION:
Sleeve: Rather than give this a straight up grade I will discuss the cover in detail as well as show photos. The front cover has high original gloss lamination except a small section of the middle left which has lost some shine. Has some light top right and bottom right corner creasing/bending. The bottom right corner also has a tiny spot of wear w/ loss of paper. The opening edge has a tiny spot of lamination peel. A tiny spot of Monk's back head has some lamination frosting. The back cover is pretty clean w/ just a little general wear. Has names at both top corners and the top left corner also has a small tear. The bottom seam is nice w/ one very tiny nick and the previously mentioned tiny split. The top seam has some wear and a 3/4" split at the right corner. The spine has a 1 1/4" split at the top, a couple of tiny spots of wear w/ loss of surface at the bottom. Most of the graphics are still intact and readable except for the number at the top but does have a number at the bottom.
Record: I play graded this entire LP. It retains decent gloss but has been played a lot and has a fair amount of light surface scuffs and some random scratches, some light some heavier. Side A is especially noisey VG at the beginning and end of Track1 w/ pretty noisey background ticks due to scratches. Track 2 plays much better VG+ except for some background ticks about 3/4 of the way through the track from a small scratch. Side B plays better than Side A but still has some small scratches at the end of Track 1 and the middle of Track 2 and basically plays VG+ w/ some light random background surface noise w/ some noisier VG sections w/ some additional background ticks from the scratches. Despite this it still has fantastic sound presence if you can live with the imperfections. / VPI cleaned
COMMENTS: Rare original deep groove copy of this absolute Monk classic w/ RLP-12-226 A / RLP-12-226 B stamper w/16 I also etched into the runoff on bothe sides.
