Description
Selling-up my record collection.
The legendary Velvets first album.
This is identifiable as being first-issue, because of the "Sold in UK etc etc" on the record label (in capitals, to right of "Verve Records"). My third photo shows this.
Cover shows it age, but is intact. Front shows ring-wear, a couple of "scallops" from putting the record away vigorously, and there's a bend to bottom right corner. Still pretty nice. Spine is very good. Wear at opening, but no real damage. Back looks grubby due to age and handling, and there are a few small spots / stains. Flipbacks are still 100% well attached, with grubbiness where lamination doesn't quite reach the edges.
I have had a close look at the record. I couldn't see any problems on side one. Side 2 shows a very light scratch across tracks 3,4 and 5. There is a tiny scratch in track 1, and I saw a couple of fingernail type marks. Really very good.
I have been collecting records for 50 years (when finances allowed!), and now it's time to sell-up. I bought them mostly around local shops (second-hand), but sometimes from e-bay, and sometimes new, for my favorite bands. Note that I'm in UK, so records are UK issue, unless I say different.
Feel free to ask me stuff. I won't end auctions early.
Postage at cost within UK - £2.95
I'm happy to send this overseas, see below for details.
Dispatch will usually be "next day".
Collection in person is welcome.
I don't mail things personally, to countries outside the UK, but I am happy to use E-Bay UK's Global Shipping Program, for sending things abroad.
Under this scheme, I send the parcel to an e-bay depot in UK, and they forward it to the overseas buyer.
They have a tracked courier service, for the journey from their UK depot, to the buyer.
This means that I can ONLY accept payments through e-bay (Pay Now button), and I can't send invoices. Combined postage is not possible through the Program.
International buyers should be able to see a postage cost to their country, automatically added by E-Bay, if your country is included in the scheme.
If your country is not mentioned, please do not bid.
International postage to the following countries will be shown:
Australia Austria Belgium Bulgaria Canada Croatia Cyprus Czech Republic Denmark Finland France Germany Greece Hungary Ireland Israel Italy Japan Lithuania Luxembourg Malta Netherlands New Zealand Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand Turkey Norway Poland Portugal Romania Russia Slovakia Slovenia Spain Sweden, United States, Antigua & Barbuda Aruba Bangladesh Barbados Belize Bermuda Bolivia Brunei Darussalam Cambodia Cayman Islands Dominica Ecuador Egypt French Guiana Gibraltar Grenada Guadeloupe Guernsey Iceland Jersey Jordan Liechtenstein Macau Maldives Martinique Monaco Montserrat Nicaragua Oman Pakistan Paraguay Peru Reunion Saint Kitts & Nevis Saint Lucia Sri Lanka and Turks & Caicos Islands
International postage plus applicable customs charges will probably be shown to buyers in the following non-EU countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Russia and USA, and wherever else import duty is appropriate - e.g. Norway.
I WILL DEFINITELY NOT post to countries that are not included in the above lists.

I have played the record, so I can give a "play-grade". It came out very well. I played it reasonably loud, on my expensive hi-fi. To summarise, this record plays with absolutely no crackling or problems for (literally) 99% of the time. It does not crackle "in quiet parts", doesn't even crackle between tracks. Side one - Couple of crackles at start of "Femme Fatale", and once at start of "Sunday Morning". Just another couple of quiet crackles elsewhere, and that's ALL I heard on side one. Side 2 - On "Heroin", several light crackles in the quiet first part. There's a "pop" later on this track, caused by a very very short scratch. Towards the end, I heard a scratch, just for 4 or 5 rotations. "There She Goes Again" plays perfectly except that it suddenly skips a groove, due to a very short oblique scratch. One faint crackle on the intro to "I'll Be Your Mirror". A light crackle at start of "European Son", and about 4 light crackles on the fade-out of that track. The general audio is excellent, sounds just as it should, not worn-out at all. As I was doing the test at night, I had a look at the record under my twin spotlights. This reveals surface marks and scratches not normally visible when you check in daylight. I saw about 4 various marks or light scratches on side one, where I had not noticed anything in normal light. Now, I would suggest, go back and read again, the bit where I said it's 99% flawless! One is obliged to list every little flaw that one can find, but the Big Picture is very good indeed.price rating
