groovesvinyl Store Original Yellow Label Mono Promo LP by the Velvet Underground & Nico. Featuring the peelable banana by Andy Warhol. This is the debut LP by America's finest rock group. Not much more explanation necessary... PLAY GRADE: VG+ all the fuzz jams sound great, no distortion coming from the record to fight with what Lou and Sterling are putting down - as such Waiting For My Man, Run, Run, Run etc sound fantastic... the MONO mix blasting through. On the quieter numbers like Sunday Morning and Femme Fatale there are a few pops and a faint bit of noise here and there. This is only in the background, in quiet passages, song lead-ins etc and doesn't really detract from the listening experience. Visually the vinyl looks great -- played, but well cared for with absolutely NO feelable scratches anywhere and only very slight marks visible under light. COVER: VG+ On the white portion of the cover there is a bit of ringwear on front and back. Mostly evident on front along the bottom from storage. Also on the upper left front there is a 1 inch darker area where some of the cover slick has bubbled and gotten wear. Nothing is split or too unsightly really, just trying to be thorough in the description of this rare LP. This is the rare 1st printing TORSO cover that contains the image of Eric Emerson that was later stickered over, then finally airbrushed out on 2nd and 3rd printings. The peelable banana is 100% present and intact. A tear is HARDLY visible at the stem where somebody decided to "peel slowly and see". Evidentally it was restuck and that's that. Looks GREAT! Spine is intact and title is fully legible with no wear at all. Corners are pretty good too...worn but not beaten down. Pretty sharp actually. Inside gatefold middle right somebody wrote there initials PAS in red ink...see scan. LABELS: NM look great nice bright yellow and black, PROMO labels - denoting this was an east coast printing. Definite keeper copy of this fantastic LP - would be hard to upgrade from here.
