Description
Authentic vintage MGM/Verve-era stereo pressing of The Velvet Underground & Nico featuring the legendary Andy Warhol banana cover artwork and blue Verve “T” labels. This is an early revised lacquer pressing — not a modern reissue — and appears consistent with late 1960s to very early 1970s MGM/Verve represses using transitional metal parts.
Matrix / Runout:
Side 1:
V6-5008 SIDE-1
MGS-558
REV-2
(Last etched characters difficult to fully decipher in current lighting/photo angle)
The “REV-2” style matrix is associated with revised lacquer cuts found on early MGM/Verve repressings after the original 1967 issue.
Vinyl Condition: VG
Heavy signs of play wear, surface marks, groove wear, and handling throughout. Clearly a well-played original copy but still a solid authentic vintage player copy of one of the most influential albums ever made.
Jacket Condition: G
Gatefold sleeve has yellowing, staining, tape repair, edge wear, corner wear, interior discoloration, and a mild musty odor from long-term storage. Despite the wear, the iconic banana artwork still displays very well overall.
Features:
• Blue Verve “T” labels
• Gatefold cover
• Andy Warhol banana artwork
• Early MGM/Verve pressing
• Vintage analog pressing — not a later reissue
Includes legendary tracks:
“Sunday Morning”
“I’m Waiting For The Man”
“Venus In Furs”
“Heroin”
A highly collectible vintage Velvet Underground pressing with tremendous display appeal and historical importance even in player-grade condition.
