The Velvet Underground 1969 MGM SE 4617 Lou Reed's "Closet Mix" RARE Play Tested First Pressing
When researching this album, I discovered that this is a fairly rare pressing that is known as Lou Reed's "Closet Mix". Disccogs provides this explanation: "The album was produced by the band themselves, and issued in two different stereo mixes. The more widely distributed mix is the one done by MGM/Verve staff engineer Val Valentin. The other mix was done by Lou Reed, boosting his vocals and guitar solos, while reducing the level of other instruments. This version was dubbed the 'Closet Mix' by Sterling Morrison, because it sounded to him as if it had been recorded in a closet. The most dramatic difference is that the two versions use entirely different performances of 'Some Kinda Love', both taken from the same recording sessions."
Media: G/F Side A has no skips, but there is surface noise throughout that sometimes rises above the music. Not a bad listen though. Side B has no skips. The surface noise is less than Side A and is less intrusive. A solid listen.
Sleeve: G/F Significant ring wear and shelf wear. There is wear on the spine. Comes with the original inner sleeve.
