This is a mega-rare one; an original pressing of the self-titled LP by The Toads, a private pressing made by Kenneth Raymond Wight and Associates Audio Engineers, Cat# WA 64-021. Vinyl is in M- condition; really nice aside from a few light spindle marks (the pressing itself is fairly cheap, but this looks like it has received very little playing time). Cover rates a very strong VG+; it’s a little dirty (could be easily cleaned up), but has remarkably little surface or edge wear considering it was released in 1964. Teenage instrumental frat-rock action! Here’s some info from someone who knew far more than I about these lads (thanks to the writer and the marvels of the internet for this writeup): From 1964, out of Lawrenceville,New Jersey, comes The Toads with their self-titled LP on no name label (private press). It was produced by Kenneth Raymond Wight Associates,Princeton New Jersey. ULTRA RARE garage frat record instrumental LP! They sound a bit like The Ventures. Mostly covers, though a few look like they are original songs! The songs include Morpheus, Movin’, Stranger On The Shore, Sleepwalk, Baja, Will You Still Love Me, Checkmate, You Can’t Sit Down, A Love Affair, New Wrinkle,Penetration, Ebb Tide, Medley. The group was the pride of the Lawrenceville Prep School in Lawrencevill,New Jersey! The group was anchored by Dusty Stretch on drums. Dusty Stretch and another group member had been, several years earlier, in the Lawrenceville Prep School Band,Davy And The Badmen. The other two members had been in the Chessmen, another Lawrenceville band! This LP is ultra rare and was issued in a quantity of 100-150.
