Description

The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.
I accept returns and offer a full refund if you are not happy with your purchase.

The Smiths - 'Panic' German Blue Vinyl 12" - 1986

Catalogue no. 6.20648 - Teldec/Zensor

As is the case for each of the original coloured vinyl 1980s German releases, this pressing of the classic Smiths single 'Panic' has become highly collectable owing to its ever-increasing scarcity as copies are bought up by collectors. This copy is such an original pressing, rather than a 're-issue' or 'bootleg', and appeared on particularly striking clear blue vinyl (see photos) and, interestingly, has a different track-listing to the UK release, with 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out' (slightly incorrectly titled as 'There's A Light That Never Goes Out') and 'The Queen Is Dead' on the B-side. The sleeve artwork is the classic Richard Bradford 'Man In A Suitcase' cover, but printed on a lighter background shade which makes the light blue "SMITHS" lettering stand out differently and which appears to be the original composition of the photograph which was used for the sleeve since the 'cut-out' appearance of Richard Bradford's face, which appears on other releases, is not present. Also unique to this pressing is the curious message "HANG THEM HIGH MONIKA" which is etched into the run-out groove instead of "I DREAMT ABOUT STEW LAST NIGHT" which appears on the UK pressings. This pressing is actually the earliest version, with catalogue number 6.20648, rather than the slightly later blue vinyl pressing with catalogue number 16.20503.

The record and labels are in strong excellent condition, having been played just a few times but being extremely well looked after; there are just some light surface marks on the bright blue vinyl in a few places which can only be seen if held to the light. The outer sleeve is unfortunately only in very good condition, due mainly to one area in the top right of the front of the sleeve where a price sticker has been removed (see photos); this has resulted in damage to the surface of the sleeve. Other than this, there is no seam-splitting or significant creasing. The only other signs of wear and ageing are some mild patches of small darker regions on the front of the sleeve in a few places (see photos), and some minor wear near the top on the reverse. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail showing the actual record and sleeve for sale; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.

All my auctions start at 1P and have NO RESERVE. They are all 100% genuine, original versions. Some are in mint/new condition and some are used; all will go to the highest bidder. I offer a money-back guarantee if anything is described incorrectly. Postage and Packing is 3.90 in the UK for untracked and uninsured standard postage, this is subsidised by myself and the actual costs to me will usually be higher. Please do consider paying the extra 90p for tracked postage since there is nothing that can be done to find out what happened if the parcel is lost when standard postage is chosen. Shipping costs are greater for overseas buyers, but still subsidised and very good value; please check prices by using the options above or feel free to ask. Extra items are sent at no extra postage charge to the buyer (see below). I always take great care to package items well with strong mailing materials.

See my other auctions for related rare items here.  If multiple auctions are won at the same time (within a week), I will charge only the postage cost for the heaviest item and pay the remainder myself. This is the case wherever you live. If you are planning to bid, but cannot be around at the end of the auction, I have found this free site to be useful; note that I am not affiliated with the site in any way!
