For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

The Smiths - 'Debut Album' Japanese LP First Pressing With Red Flexi Disc - 1984

This is a Japanese first-pressing edition of The Smiths' 1984 debut album on the Tokuma label. As with many Japanese vinyl pressings, this has been given the benefit of superb audio clarity on thick heavyweight vinyl and has been packaged with care and respect for quality. I played a sample of another copy of this pressing of the Japanese LP on high-quality equipment recently, and was practically blown away by the depth and subtlety of the sound produced. This copy comes complete in its original form and is a true collectors' item. The original 'OBI' strip, fold-out 6 page insert containing Japanese and English lyrics along with photos of the band, and the very rare red 'flexi disc' featuring an interview with Morrissey by a Japanese interviewer from October 1983, conducted at Strawberry Studios during the recording of the album, are all present. The flexi disc alone has become a sought-after collectors' item, and provides a fascinating insight into the intentions of the band at that early stage and it is interesting to hear Morrissey talk about Johnny Marr and then refer to Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke as "the other two". This LP can be identified as one of the very first pressing run by a white circle on the 'OBI' strip (see photo), which is printed rather than being a sticker, and indicates that there is a flexi disc accompanying the LP. The following second-run pressings, also on the Tokuma label, did not have a white circle on the 'OBI' strip and did not come with the interview flexi disc. In Record Collector's Top 100 list of Smiths collectables in 2005 this first-press Japanese LP with the red flexi disc was listed at Number 18 and, as an item placed so highly, it seems likely that its value will continue to rise as the popularity of original Smiths and Morrissey vinyl escalates further.The vinyl and labels are in near mint condition, with no discernable marks on the highly-glossy vinyl; the vinyl clearly having been played only a few times and having been lovingly looked-after. The flexi disc is also in near mint condition with no detectable marks or signs of wear on this delicate item. The terrific lyric insert is in terrific shape and shows practically no signs of handling. The thick outer sleeve and 'OBI' strip are in strong excellent condition, with no significant creases and no marks or writing anywhere. There are no tears or splits in the sleeve, and all edges are sharp and unworn. The only sign of wear is some minor 'corner rubbing' in a few places and one extremely minor 'bump' to the top left hand corner. The 'OBI' strip has just the mildest beginnings of light creases in a few places, which can only be seen if held to the light. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.
