Description
The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

The Smiths - 'Rank' UK LP With Limited Poster - 1988
Catalogue no. ROUGH 126L - Rough Trade Records
It was only the very first copies of the 'Rank' LP pressed by Rough Trade in 1988 which had the amended catalogue number of 'ROUGH 126L' as opposed to the standard-issue 'ROUGH 126'. These copies were distinguished by having the official 'Cartel' promotional poster neatly folded in half inside the sleeve alongside the record, and a silver circular sticker denoting the amended catalogue number on the front of the sleeve. The copy of the 'Rank' LP being auctioned here is one of those very first pressings which has survived in tremendous condition (see below) and has both the sticker and poster still present, and as such is a very rare find indeed. The item was listed at Number 87 in the latest 2014 revised Smiths Top 100 collectables.The vinyl is in near mint condition, having no visible surface marks on the highly-glossy vinyl or signs of having been played. The thick silver and black inner sleeve is similarly well preserved with no marks or damage. The outer sleeve is also in near mint condition with no marks, creases or damage anywhere. The edges and corners are all sharp, with only the most minor 'rubbing' at the base of the spine. There is no seam-splitting and the original circular sticker is intact and unmarked. The poster is also in superb near mint condition, having no marks or creases anywhere. The poster is extremely neatly and sharply folded along the middle as originally issued. It would be difficult to find a better-preserved complete example of this original 1980s Rough Trade rarity. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the items themselves.
