Description

Here we have a very unique, rare and original example of indie pop history from 1984.

This poster is an original 1984 Rough Trade promotional display poster for The Smiths first LP designed just for display inside record shops and so was limited in number when produced, often thrown away after a couple of weeks and so very few survived.  This one I begged from a small record shop in Newcastle in 1984 (while at Uni).  I have owned it since then and kept it in a protective perspex frame away from sunlight etc. (see photo).

This poster measures 58.5 cm X 29.5 cm.

Now 33 years old, the poster is still in very good condition.  It has the two faint folds that I believe nearly all of these posters had since they were folded when sent out to the stores from Rough Trade.  Please use the zoom function to examine the poster.

I have priced the poster based on extreme rarity, it's general very good condition and research into the auction sale of the same poster during the last couple of decades.  Only TWO of these original first LP Smiths posters have been available for auction in the last 11 years.  The most recent auction was in 2012 when the poster sold in good condition for 310 Euros.  Whoever ends up owning it will have a truly rare Smiths item.

The poster deserves to be properly framed and hung so more people can see what this historic poster actually looked like 'in the flesh'.  I currently do not have the space to do this but I am hoping someone out there is able to properly host this unique item.

Serious bids / offers from genuine collectors only please.

You are very welcome to come and view the poster by prior arranged appointment.
The poster will be posted in a hard tube carefully rolled up.

Many thanks for looking
