Description

Hot Rocks 1964–1971

U.S. London Stereophonic
STEREO 2PS 607

the Vinyl is VISUALLY Graded:  Sides 1 and 2 look strong VG to VG+
Sides 3 and 4 look strong VG,
but there are no finger-felt marks on the 2 last songs on side 4, so technically the vinyl on those took tracks is visually closer to VG+; These are the nominally unreleased
alternate versions
of Brown Sugar & Wild Horses.
This last side is pressed off-center by about 2 mm and has audible wow.
STERLING is machine stamped, followed by neatly hand-etched L + 1 the date 11-18-71 is VERY faintly etched
and too difficult for us to photograph, but you can check out our other dead-wax etching photos;
ONLY the pressings with THIS DATE are in fact the alternate takes.
These mispressed copies were pulled from circulation,
and side Four was re-cut and remastered, and bears the  later December date (12-06-71)
on the revised or "corrected" pressing run.
You can read an article about this pressing
written by John Rutherford for the Rolling Stones fanzine
"Basement News" back in the early 90's:

(there's a scan of this article about 1/3 of the way down the page) and other interesting discussion in some old forum posts,

This pressing comes with the standard  US London Rolling Stones  release "Catalog innersleeve" as well: these
sleeves are VG with seams totally (one one edge only) or partially split, but no rips, no holes or notches. The gatefold jacket is in vg to VG+ condition,
with minor wear in a few parts of the edges;
the spine and bottom seams are intact overall, but the "front" bottem edge has a 1 inch seam-split in the middle; top edges are split in the upper-right corner
(when gatefold is "closed") and there's corner wear, and light shelf-wear / light ring-wear;
The inside of the gatefold jacket has nicer lamination that's still semi-glossy with only faint wear in a few places;
