Description
Rolling Stones Fan OPPORTUNITY ALERT. This is a limited edition and numbered LP vinyl box set of The Rolling Stones' Mobile Fidelity Sound Studio Collection from 1984. The 11 Vinyl Albums are carried in separate red outer jackets with inner sleeves as well. There is a separate book that has the Album Cover Art as well as the psychedelic changing image from the Satanic Majesty's Album cover on the front of the book, which tends to distort the cover of the book. There is also a "Geo Disc" cartridge alignment disc as part of the set and a warranty card. Despite the smudge and dirt looking marks that I later noticed that were caused by dirt on the lens of my iPhone, these records are mint, and I would venture to say they have not been played. The records have all been in the sleeve sets, in the box, for about 40 years. These unique LPs are called "Original Master Recordings" and were created by transfer from the original master tape to a master cutting machine that is running at half speed. There are a finite set of pressings to guarantee quality.
This is set is numbered "1630", a relatively early pressing.
The backstory on this box set is that it came from my brother's estate about 5 years ago. He was a huge fan of the Stones. I never knew him to actually own a record player. His wife gave him this box set to him for his birthday and a few years later did not wake up. This devastated my brother, who's house fell into to disrepair and he eventually became ill and passed away. I found this box in a closet, in his wife's office, that he never revisited. I give you this background because the set has the "smell of an old house'. If that will bother you, perhaps these are not for you. I do not find it intense, but it is there. The box looks pretty good, but there is a 1' x 2" gray discoloration splotch on the back side of it.
I am passing this box set on as a must-have for any fan of the band or vinyl collectors. The country/region of manufacture is Japan and adds to its rarity and unique history. This item is perfect for those looking to add a rare and valuable piece to their collection.
I have had to clean out several houses, not by choice, over the last 10 years and I am now dedicated to not leaving my kids a bunch of stuff to go through when I kick the bucket, thus there are no returns on this item.
