  • Upon its release more than three decades ago, 'Exile on Main Street' innovatively wove varying musical genres, instruments and even artists into a compelling rhythmic masterpiece. The original 18-track double-album was recorded in various stages at multiple locations, including Olympic Studios in London, Keith Richard's mansion Nellcote in France, and in Los Angeles where the literal "Main Street" influenced the album title.
These atypical circumstances surrounding the recording process greatly affected the album's outcome which was highly reflective and influenced by the sociopolitical turbulence that marked the late 1960's and early '70s. The Stones nixed the influences of a flower-child era and directed their creative process with the edgier, excessive, "more is more" approach of the '70s.

Visual Grading (All grading of records for sale is done visually)

M MINT Brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration. Cover and extra items are in perfect condition. I will never advertise a record as Mint or Near Mint unless it is still sealed or unplayed.

VG+/EX VERY GOOD PLUS/EXCELLENT Except for minor things, the record is in Near Mint condition. Very slight or little signs of wear such as light scuffs/scratches that will not affect listening experience. Minor signs of handling around centre hole, ring wear or discolouration, but barely noticeable.

Cover may have minor wear, splits (less than 1”) or cut-out marking.

VG VERY GOOD Flaws are more obvious than that of a very good plus. Original gloss may be lacking. Groove wear visibly evident, light scratches deep enough to feel with fingernail and surface noise may be evident upon playing.

Many signs of handling inc. ring wear in the middle or along the edges of the cover obvious, though not overwhelming. More visible creases. Seam splitting may appear on all three sides, though not obvious.

G/G+ GOOD/GOOD PLUS Record will still play without skipping despite significant surface noise and groove wear. Labels worn, significant ring wear, writing or obvious damage. Seam splits visibly obvious.
