Record: Original (US Pressing) self titled album by The Rockets on White Whale (WWS-7116) 1968. Scarce garage psych classic featuring future members of Neil Young's Crazy Horse Band. Nice gloss overall. No obvious scuffs or marks. Record plays really well (great sound quality). Clean labels, no spindle marks. There are some very minor surface background noises detectable to the run-ins and quieter sections, which is fairly common on played records.  Play tested using a high quality Linn turntable. The record has been stored in a plastic sleeve since I bought it on its release. It has then been stored in high quality flight cases since then.

Cover:  Thick cardboard with some wear to sleeve in the form of some creasing to the corners, slight ring-wear and very minor rubbing to the corners. There are also two very small cut holes (see photots). Having said this there are no seam splits nor any writing, and I think the cover looks pretty good.

History: Selling only about 5,000 copies, it was far from a success. Nevertheless, the album found among its fans Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young, who would soon take Danny Whitten, bassist Billy Talbot and drummer Ralph Molina for his backing band on the album Everybody Knows This is Nowhere. They first dubbed themselves War Babies, but Young re-named them Crazy Horse, a name that would stick. The Rockets soon folded due to Young's insistence on having Whitten, Talbot and Molina keep to a strict practice schedule. Talbot and Molina have remained as part of Crazy Horse to this day, and all of the other Rockets, except for Leon Whitsell, would eventually collaborate with Young.

Band: Bobby Notkoff – violin, Leon Whitsell – guitar, George Whitsell – guitar, Danny Whitten – guitar, Billy Talbot - bass guitar, Ralph Molina - drums
