I’m Gonna Knock On Your Door/Why Did I Fall In Love With You Mint Condition This rare 1964 recording is part of a recently-discovered cache of demos, acetates and other records from the BBC. For most general rock fans, the Pete Best story ends on August 16, 1962. That's when Beatles manager Brian Epstein told the unfortunate drummer that he was being replaced by Ringo Starr, just weeks before the group would record their first single. Best continued to perform as Pete and The All Stars. Mike Smith, the manager famously responsible for turning down the Beatles at Decca decided that Pete and The All Stars was just the band that the label had been looking for and, eager to exploit Pete’s notoriety as an ex-Beatle he changed the band's name to The Pete Best Four. This cover of Eddie Hodges’ 1961 hit – itself a cover of an earlier Isley Brothers disc - was not successful. The label bears a silver letter ‘A’, some pencil squiggles and the printed name Maria. Comes in original iconic orange Decca sleeve.
