THE MONKEES GOLDEN HITS (1971) Rare Colgems Stereo PRS-329 Special Collector's Edition
The only way to purchase this album was to send in $1.50 and 2 box tops from various Post cereals. It is extremely rare in any condition. As you can see in the picture, they were already down to three Monkees. In the early 70's Post cereals, like Alpha Bits and Post Toasties, printed cardboard Monkess records on the back of their cereal boxes. There were twelve records in total. This album was put together as a special premium and consists of the same 12 songs. Unfortunately, it was purchased mainly by children and therefore most existing copies are in poor condition.
Based on Goldmine Magazine standards the cover is in Very Good condition. There is ring wear on the front cover and there is only minimal edge wear. All four corners are solid and there are no seam splits. There is no writing, yellowing or any other significant damage to mention.
The disc is in Very Good (-) condition. There is medium surface noise especially noticeable between tracks. There are visible scratches and other wear due to usage but the album plays through and is listenable. It is pressed on rigid deep groove vinyl. There is no writing on the labels and no spindle marks.
Although this is not a mint record, it definitely would complete a decent Monkees collection until a better copy can be found.
