Description

The Late Show - Portable Pop 1980 Rave Records Power Pop Rare Album LP Record Portable Pop is the highly acclaimed 1980 debut album by the Indianapolis-based power pop band The Late Show. Originally released on the tiny independent Rave Records label, it fell flat commercially at the time but has since achieved legendary status among power pop collectors and enthusiasts. The album was listed at #23 on Goldmine Magazine's list of the 50 essential US power pop albums and is widely celebrated for its catchy, high-energy sound reminiscent of The Raspberries, The Knack, and The Beatles. Because the band struggled to capture their raw energy in a sterile studio environment, they famously recorded the entire album live inside the studio's concrete loading dock area.
