Description
The Kinks Something Else on the Pye label. Mono issue. Matrices are NPL 18193A - 1*M & NPL 18193B - 1*M. This is the first pressing of one of the Kinks best albums.
I would rate the cover as Good. Original Garrod & Lofthouse patents pending sleeve. It has a sticker removal mark top right of front cover, see 1st picture. The mark is sticker residue. The sticker has not torn the sleeve. The sleeve has wear to the corners, pictures 3 - 6. It has mild wear to the spine, still largely legible. The flipbacks are almost intact, pictures 2 & 7. In picture 7 you can see the flipback has become unglued. Their is no writing on the sleeve.
Visually I would grade the vinyl as Good+. It has many light marks & on side 1 has a horrible mark across tracks 3-5, see picture 10. This is not a deep mark but is clearly visible. Thankfully the mark looks far worse than it sounds, see below. The vinyl lies flat.
The labels are clean, pictures 8 & 9.
The record plays better than it looks. I would rate the sound as VG+. Their is static on the run ins & between tracks, though only very very occasionally in the music. Their are no skips or jumps. I could not hear any deterioration in the sound quality. The sound was very vibrant & had great presence. The mark referred to above does sound as soft clicks during "No Return", track 4 side 1. The clicks get louder between tracks 4 & 5 but I could not hear anything during track 5, "Harry Rag".
Inner sleeve is not original.
A good playing copy of a rare album.
