This is the extremely rare real thing: a genuine Mint/Ex condition UK first pressing. The record is in Mint condition while the cover, lyric sheet and inner sleeve fully merit an Excellent grading. The LP is the original UK 1975 stereo LP, which was only played occasionally on top-end audiophile equipment and lovingly cared for.
“Ray Davies was on songwriting overdrive in the early-to-mid 70s.”
THIS HAS TO BE ONE OF THE BEST EXAMPLES OF THIS SUPERB ALBUM EVER OFFERED FOR SALE IN RECENT TIMES
Schoolboys in Disgrace or The Kinks Present Schoolboys in Disgrace is a 1975 album by English rock group The Kinks.
According to the back cover liner notes, the story which the album presents is as follows:
Once upon a time there was a naughty little schoolboy. He and his gang were always playing tricks on the teachers and bullying other children in the school. One day he got himself into very serious trouble with a naughty schoolgirl and he was sent to the Headmaster who decided to disgrace the naughty boy and his gang in front of the whole school.
After this punishment the boy turned into a hard and bitter character. Perhaps it was not the punishment that changed him but the fact that he realised people in authority would always be there to kick him down and the Establishment would always put him in his place. He knew that he could not change the past but he vowed that in the future he would always get what he wanted. The naughty little boy grew up... into Mr Flash.
Mr Flash was the name of the villain from The Kinks' rock opera Preservation (released as Preservation Act 1 and Preservation Act 2).
The front cover was illustrated by Mickey Finn of T. Rex.
This may be your only ONCE IN A LIFETIME chance to own this rare piece of rock history in this condition.
“Schoolboys In Disgrace is the Kinks best rock opera as it is a joy to listen to…”
This album never got the credit it deserves. Maybe the themes aren't as broad as earlier concept albums, but there isn't a bad song on it, so musically I consider it their best concept album, and as such, one of the best concept albums in music, period. Followed by the equally brilliant "Misfits" and "Sleepwalker," this kicked off a period of perfect albums, none of which got the credit they deserve. If you are a Kinks fan, or just Rock music fan, you should love it. It's well worth the price. And only grows on you with time.
A fantastic time warp example of this rarity in amazing condition, a true investment grade item - get it while you can!
AND IT MUST SELL IN THIS ONCE ONLY AUCTION
You can read more about this album and The Kinks all over the web.
I pack my records professionally in stiff corrugated cruciform record boxes leaving the Vinyl (housed in anti-static bags) outside the Sleeve.
