Description

An original 1st issue of KINKS on UK Pye - available whilst 1st charting. Matrix A1/B1 - but the 1's have been scratched out with 2's. beautifully heavy as these Pye copies are renowned for. The vinyl comes housed in an original cover with flipbacks. We have a choice of inners>>>>. We will ship in a Decca poly-lined inner - for maximum protection. The blue and white palette used by Decca is precisely the same colour scheme exhibited by the original Pye inners - so that makes for a good substitute. If you want something a bit more authentic then there's also a PYE/guineas inner sleeve from the early 60's.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg+) In great condition despite having seen a moderate level of use. Do expect a good few marks per side. But remember these lps were pressed super heavy and a few marks like this isn't going to trouble the audio all that much. A thorough testing from beginning to end  reveals a following level of playback. Side 1 - mostly VERYGOOD+ with deviation in the odd spot. Expect a few clicks in track 3 and a bit of crackle sporadically in a couple of tracks [e.g. JCGTS]. But the sheer volume recorded onto this vinyl is so loud - any background really is very much in the background. Very slight distortion as Really Got Me is closing out. But otherwise very impressive - and highly addictive. Side 2 is definitely up a notch again - and perhaps has seen less use. I'd argue it is mostly NEAREXCELLENT. To be honest there's precious little to moan about on side 2. Ok, it's not perfectly quiet - but any background is pretty much inconsequential do to the onslaught of the Kinks at full tilt. A couple of clicks in the openings seconds of  'BALD'. A beautiful record which can still deliver the raw power and energy from - 1964 no less!
Cover (Vg) Difficult to find well preserved - this example is acceptable and no better. The front looks very nice with a bit of creasing over at the opening. The rear has aged a little in places and there's a signature evident. To be fair - its not as bad as many examples are looking like by this point time. There's a bit of edge wear, but nothing epic. The text on the spine is fully legible with a few stress creases. Overall an acceptable original example.
Inners (Vg+) No splits. Minor ageing.
