Description

I'm in the process of liquidating my 55 years old collection. It's tough to part with some of these and this one is one of the toughest, a real gem. Here's a beautiful copy of this much sought after Kinks LP. Played once to record to tape then safely stored for all these many years to preserve it.
The album cover, masterfully illustrated by Jean Michel Folon, is in very good condition as well. It was kept in it's original shrink wrap for decades and only removed just before this listing as it was getting rather ragged. As I removed it, it pulled a little of the ink from around the opening and elsewhere. I blacked in those small pulls with a permanent marker to help it's appearance just a bit. The wrap mostly has done its job and saved the outer sleeve from other external wear. And, as was my custom back then, I put my first initial and last name inside the cover at the opening.

The original Reprise inner paper sleeve is in good condition with one split edge - the one opposite the opening.

Also included is the original liner notes insert. 12 by 12 inches, front and back, 8 columns of critique and review of the album and the band, written by John Mendelsohn in September, 1972. You may remember him as a Kinks expert, author, and long-time music critic for Rolling Stone magazine as well as many other music publications. He outlines the history of the record, how it came to be rescued, the quality of the music and the well being of the band members at the time.
A must for any Kink's Kollector.
