The Fall - ‘SLATES’ 10” Rough Trade RTO71 1981 Vinyl Mini LP - Excellent Cond. Condition is Used. Dispatched with Royal Mail 2nd Class Letter.
Sleeve is absolutely perfect apart some slight shelf wear and a tiny tear on the spine. There was no original inner sleeve, but I put in my own plastic 10” inner. Vinyl is perfect, despite probably playing this as much as all my other Fall LPs combined.
The Fall seemed to have been one of few omnipresents in my life, from the day my older brother brought home the Bingo Master’s Breakout EP, at 10 years old they fascinated me. And this first Rough Trade period up to leaving Beggars Banquet, is where, for my money, they reached perfection. And this mini-LP is their finest moment of all.
At just 6 songs it’s short, but that brevity means there’s no inessential track. Every moment on it is needed.
Did I say that I quite like this record?
I bought it at Probe Records in Liverpool and it was their very last copy of the original release - in fact, I remember there being some conflab in the back room as to whether they were still going to charge the £2 that is stipulated on the cover (u skinny rats), which at the time of release was already really cheap.
Even if you don’t this copy, you have to listen to this record, so get yourself off to YouTube or something.

All records will be posted in Defendapack Twistwrap double thickness record mailers, with the disc *outside* the sleeve and in protective bubblewrap, so there will be no new corner damage or holes in the edges caused by the LP sliding inside the sleeve in transit.All existing wear, tear and damage done to the sleeve when I was a teenager and didn't think the state of my records was any concern of anyone else other than myself, will be either described or will be clearly photographed.

As a personal note: this is my own vinyl collection. I'm downsizing, so saying a ceremonial goodbye to my LPs and singles that have been part of my life for the best part of 50 years. I'm not a dealer: these records were bought to listen to - in many cases to listen to A LOT. And they've been with me through goods times and bad times. I'm a very careful owner, so they're mostly in really condition for their age (wish I could say that for other things), but none of them are in mint condition.As part of saying goodbye, I'm first cleaning them using a DISCO-ANTISTAT RECORD CLEANER, and to be honest they have never sounded this good - in some cases they're better than the day I bought them. Then I'm giving them a last play through using a brand new stylus, paying attention to any surface noise, audible scratches etc. I'm noticing that vinyl really took a plunge in quality around 1990 :-) both in weight and sound. Because of this last play through, I can honestly tell you what they sound like after a clean.This is a slow process - about ten records a week - so please save my eBay selling page and see if anything else you're interested in crops up: having been raised under the wing of John Peel, it's a very eclectic collection.
