Description

An original [2nd Issue] Philips pressing of TFJC from 1961 - shortly after Cash had jumped ship to Columbia. These early Philips pressings sound great and are not easy to track down these days. Matrix 1/1. Tax Code "O/T" = 1961. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Philips cover - mentioning Cash as a 'Philips' artist - even though, by this stage, he wasn't! Please note there's an original Shepherds Bush record shop sticker in the bottom left.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition particularly given its considerable age. Under close inspection there are a couple of marks each side - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetwens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Phillips really knew how to press a record.... this copy has bags of warmth and presence... And Cash is on top form. Interference is both minor and infrequent. All we could detect was a bit of light static in a couple of tracks on side 2 [e.g. Guns To Town] and a couple of clicks in 'Troubadour'. By and large a clean player and will leave any CASH fan begging for more!
Cover (Ex) A beautiful clean and shiny front cover with only one light thumbnail crease. The rear seems to have escaped most of the usual ageing process. A very nice clean rear with only a record store sticker in the bottom left corner. Edge wear is very light and the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
